Progressing smoothly...

Actually, besides the whole blogger snag, things aren't too bad. I'm going to be reusing a couple of old pages -- tweaking them a bit so that their less ... crappy then previously... my secondary main problem is simply virtue/envy.nu's horrible, death-like grip on my files. I've managed to transfer them, its the loading of the images/pages thats slowing me down. How did you people put up with it?

God. Had I known the extent of the slowness I would've kicked my ass rather harshly, as impossible as that is. (To kick one's ass, I mean.) Or, barring that, I would've initiated a surprise takeover of the servers, leaving most of my files unreachable and nearly forcing myself to get a domain in order to transfer my files onto a faster server and rid myself of pop-up ads forever...

Y'know, if I were into paranoid, self-absorbed theories I'd be rather suspicious right about now...

I have no more hair. All my hair is gone, torn out in frustration into big, messy balls of torment. I'm trying to get images to show up on Dragon Ink, the new blog I'm making, but for some reason it isn't working. I'm not quite sure why -- I've even checked to see if other blogs had some sort of domain/image thing I was missing, but nothing -- nada, I don't know what I'm missing or why the images aren't working. Of course, the main splash page, as stupid as it is, is up and those images work -- I've ftp'ed them.. I've linked to them... if anyone has any ideas, drop me a line and I will build a shrine in your honour.

Argh! I am not good at this domain thing. Its exactly the reason I've waited so long and continually chickened out for hosting and the etcetera. I'm domain cursed, or something. And besides that, my mirror is broken -- which means seven years bad luck and explains, perhaps, this entire frustrating domain business.

I'm still in the middle of designing -- I'm also going to create a group blog for myself and a "few of my esteemed colleagues". I've been working on a temporary index page which isn't showing up -- however, I'm not sure if thats because my stupidity, the domain not being up yet (?), or both. Probably both.

However, in terms of good things : I only have one class tomorrow, plus I'll have the car, which means I'm going to spend tonight and tomorrow working diligently on everything so I can be ready for launch on Thursday and Friday. (Also, I've been waiting quite a long time to be able to mention the opening of anything in terms of a "launch".)

Also, in lieu of the new group blog, I'll be trashing Kitten Champagne, which is generally postless always -- although probably not until this weekend when I've put the rest of the site up. After Friday I'm hoping never to have to mention words like, "domain", "server" and "transfer of files" ever, ever again. I miss the laziness of my former site. This redesign and re-contenting is getting suckier by the moment.

/ end complaining.

*phew*... I've managed to retrieve nearly all of my virtue/envy.nu files -- this written in between deep, giant breaths of relief. I've also gotten the domain pretty much set up -- all I have to do is finish the design and ftp it all to the address. However, for now, since I'm fairly fed up of the abuse I've taken from all this blasted machinery, I'm going to go downstairs, curl up in front of the television with Clyde and a blanket and watch the cheesiest eighties film ever.

For what is sure to be obnoxious changes and first-design experimental flubs, the domain is at Solardragon.org. I think that when I start swearing incoherently at a website its about time to settle down, try some acupuncture and channel my energy... to using a proverbial bat and splitting it quite nicely over the head of zerocatch, which houses all of my files, which will be erased in about a week if I'm not given access.

I can't wait to rid myself of this entire process -- I've probably aged five years. I'm quite possibly what Pamela Anderson would've looked like without surgery. (Rosie O'Donnell on platinum). See? SEE? I'm not even making sense. Plus, I have to wake up devillishly early in order to drop off the car at some mechanics shop where it will get thoroughly molested by some oily guy named Mike. And more importantly, I won't be able to drive it. Around. Thunder Bay. (And on another note: driving around Thunder Bay can get quite old, quite fast. Eg, "OMG, Its another Robin's Donuts. EXCITING.")

I know I'm whining. I'm going to try to stop. Its just so frustratingly easy to bask in virtual sarcasm, at least until I gain measures of my sanity back and am able to deal with stuff online without wishing for some sort of Internet AK-47 to negotiate for me.

Violent? Perhaps, by definition, the "free" part allows them some license to rarely work, but either way, I'm going to be mighty glad when I get my domain and am able to pretty much leave virtue.nu, envy.nu and pitas.com behind. (One major problem: pitas seems to be cantankerous as of late with its posting. I type when thing, click the submit button, and watch in horror as everything is irretrievably lost -- or worse yet: somewhat archived and able to be edited but doesn't show up on the page itself. Ergh. The humanity.

I do have a ton of plans for the domain, most of which, knowing myself as well as I claim to, will never come into fruition. But with the domain I have the usage of many other previously unexplored scripts and the like -- and I plan to update without the hinderance of evil server meltdowns, or even the unbearable slowness of turtle-paced page-loading. Maybe I'm just looking at this domain business with thick rose-coloured glasses, but I'm hoping that my life, albeit online, will be a little easier come two days hence.

After this all I'll really need is to get rid of my blasted IE error, which freezes everything and shuts down explorer in an excrutiatingly long amount of time, occassionally making me lose much information, saved or not. But at least its easier to tolerate then login inaccessability for weeks at a time.

I've grown so accustomed to the car of late that I can't bear to be without it.

Translated: Death to walking. The drink of all drinks. The mother of all beverages. I want-want-want it.

Y'see, there have been difficulties as of late with the whole "hosting/website/sanity" issue. For instance, virtue.nu (no link for those bastards. So there.) changed owners unexpectedly, thus ridding me of all my pages -- temporarily. However, signing up under there plan would ensure that I'll have pop-up ads. And I refuse to backpeddle in the whole evolution thing. (This sounds like the mad ravings of one nerd pushed too far, but quite seriously, I was at Geocities for quite awhile and decided, quite rightly, that that was really no fun at all, and pop-up ads are, in effect, the devil.)

So here's the total tally so far:

No pop-up ads.
Need for big drink.

Are you following me so far, skippy (s) ?

Right.

I've already decided I need to get a domain -- so I'll be looking into that and giving myself a bigger headache setting it up. But, back to the current turn to alcoholism: When going to the blogger site, I instead got this site (why why why??) and indeed right-clicked once, which got me a "function disabled, blah blah blah, please don't do it again, blah blah blah I'm about to be a great big jerk" thing. (Not necessarily the exact wording. -- So, me being me, I right-clicked again. Then spent the next ten minutes attempting to rid myself of a never-ending number of those same boxes smugly telling me "I told you not to" or some such thing. Eventually, I was put out of my misery by the formerly hated "IE error" box, which closed down explorer and left me dancing. In the streets. All out street dancing.

This would bring the tally to:

No pop-up ads.
Need for drink.
Thisclose to stroke.
Hating Bradley.
Hating virtue.nu
Feeling a lot of hate.
Its sooooo not Woodstock '69 over here folks.

Its more like Woodstock '99. Things are waiting to be burned and Fred Durst is in the corner of my computer room just eggin' me on.

And thats why, I need a drink. I'm sure you'll all understand.

(Also, pitas.com doesn't seem to be posting again and isn't registering my design change, which I had to incorporate after broken image links started appearing everywhere on the 'blog. Think about it.

Not much has been happening: I've been working a lot on collective projects for Art and the like-- I'll update solardragon when I next get the chance... if the stupid server gives me back my figurative stained blue dress.

And what am I talking about? I do not know. (As I was up until 4:00 a.m. with a FREAK'N cold, and am probably in no fit condition to operate heavy machinery. Up to and including this computer.) I'm actually toying with the idea of not going today-- but there'd be hell to pay tomorrow, in which case..

Fer chrissakes. Who am I kidding? There's a 99.9% chance my ass will not leave the house this morning, and thus not be sitting in my uncomfortable desk chair watching the four-hour version of Hamlet, doodling on paper, wishing I could be like that kid from the Odyssey, go into a coma and enter an exciting, junked-up kid's world full of... kids. Right. So, I'm going now. Quite possibly to sleep. Or, even better, to the medicine cabinet.

Oh, and one more thing: Did you ever wonder if your computer's Solitaire game is secretly mocking you? I've been playing it rather obsessively lately (read: I have no life. Hurrah!) and I can't help but see my machine's inner workings taunting me with cards I'll never get. Eg, "Muahahahaha, no, you shall never get the seven of diamonds! No, no! You have almost finished the game! But no! I have your card! Thus you are not having it! Ha, ha, ha! YOU LOSE!"

*cough*...

I did some pretty cool things today. I wrote a test, which wasn't cool but makes my day seem a little more productive then it actually was. During bullshitting my way through Shakespeare's Hamlet I managed to even give myself a migraine, ensuring that the answered questions will make next to no sense and end with scratchy scrawls that say, "PAIN." I went to TacoTime, ruined my internal organs with mexican food, and then walked through a city forest with Alicia. We came upon the site of my brother's former treehouse, more then 10 years old now and apparently the awe-inspiring staple of all the neighbourhood children who came after him. It was really strange to see the snowy rubble; the splintered wood and smashed glass. I could imagine Brad, Dan and Eric running around in all their eleven-year old glory, hammering and building and laughing about how they'd left me behind in tears, unable to help and "girlify" their "manly" fortress. Deeper into the woods we saw a white rabbit, which I'm told, is a symbol of great luck. It sat on its hind legs sniffing the air, absolutely still as we crouched in the slimy earth floor watching it. We saw it twice, once on the way there, and once on the way back, after I'd managed to slip on my ass and cascade ungracefully down and icy rock.

Because the weather today was so entirely insane, being spring-like in January and all, I felt entirely enveloped by feelings of new birth, the past, and the most incredible urge to jump rope. Yep. 'Twas a good day.

What is Emerge Blog? Its my blog 911. My backup online writing source that allows me my frequently needed junkie fix. Currently, I am in dire need of such a fix. Of course, this blog is just in its birth stage -- in a way its like a baby being born in the back of a Taxi cab while Muhammed, the driver, attempts to deliver without throwing up in panic. Thats about me right now. Hurrying to create something postable in the wake of the Big Pitas BREAKDOWN.
